The Bard and the Quasit

Tsuto Kaijitsu has escapes death or capture as he flees down Sandpoint’s beach and into the night.

Silver Songbird took the Dancing Dolphin a Chelaxian trading vessel from Magnimar to Sandpoint, but found the town to be in a current state of distress. He doesn’t take him long to piece together the events of the past few days and the departure of Sheriff Hemlock causing the town to be on edge. The inns and taverns are absence of merry making, most filled with discussions of goblins, the towns safety, and a group of pathfinders.

Despite his best efforts to bring cheer to Sandpoint, Silver Songbird descides a visit Sandpoints most famous business, the glassworks. Perhaps he was thinking their famed stained windows bathed in the moonlight would inspired a new song. He arrived to find the building shuttered so decides a walk the beach. He only traveled short distance when Tsuto Kaijitsu goes running past him his steps being harrowed by shouts and a twang of bow string. By the time that Taniv and Caladrel arrive before Silver Tsuto as escapes into the streets of Sandpoint.

There is short intoduction between the bard and pathfinders all agreeing that Silver would prove useful to the party.

A journal of Tsuto Kaijitsu is recovered from the basement of the glassworks reveals many things about the goblins raid on Sandpoint.

The raid went about as planned. Few Thistletop goblins perished, and we were able to secure Tobyn’s casket with ease while the rubes were distracted by the rest. I can’t wait until the real raid. This town deserves a burning, that’s for sure.

After second batch of maps

Ripnugget seems to favor the overwhelming land approach, but I don’t think it’s the best plan. We should get the quasit’s aid. Send her freaks up from below via the smuggling tunnel in my father’s Glassworks, and then invade from the river and from the Glassworks in smaller but more focused strikes. The rest except Bruthazmus agree, and I’m pretty sure the bugbear’s just being contrary to annoy me. My love’s too distracted with the lower chambers to make a decision. Says that once Malfeshnekor’s released and under her command, we won’t need to worry about being subtle. I hope she’s right.

My love seems bent on going through with it—nothing I can say convinces her of her beauty. She remains obsessed with removing what she calls her ‘celestial taint’ and replacing it with her Mother’s grace. Burning her father’s remains at the Thistletop shrine seems to have started the transformation, but I can’t say her new hand is pleasing to me. Hopefully when she offers Sandpoint to Lamashtu’s fires, her new body won’t be as hideous. Maybe I’ll luck out. Succubi are demons too, aren’t they?

After speaking with Ameiko the next day they discover Nuilia was once a resident of Sandpoint and that she has gathered around herself a group of mercenaries and the goblins of Sandpoint’s hinterlands, with their hideout being the fortress of Thistletop.

The news that monster living beneath Sandpoint and that the goblin threat yet to pass does not sit well with mayor Deverin. Without sheriff Hemlock’s advise she is spurred into action by signing a contract with the pathfinders. To making safe the threat below the town and to do what they can against the goblins of Thistletop she will bestow 500gp and claims to treasure recovered. Both the tasks are to be done as soon as the pathfinders are able.

Taniv, Caladrel, Makoa and the bard Silver Songbird make preperations to go below the town.

Vladis drinks himself into a stupor from last nights events at the glassworks.

Aegon disappears for day with only a passing word about meditation.

To prepare for the venture into the darkness they visit the Bottle Solutions a alchemial shop. There they find sunrods they will need and also meet the owner a half-elf named Nisk Tander. He tells the party of a rare mushroom called Whitesuns found in swamps south of Sandpoint. His magnimarian buyers would pay hansomely for them and that if the party would recover any he would give them 50gp for each one. He was about tell them what they looked like and how to find them when Taniv blurts out “let’s just cut out the middle man and sell them our selves in Magnimar.” So upset, Nisk tells the pathfinders to forget it.

The pathfinders make a stop at the Red Dog Smithy and meet the owner Das Korvut with his two large red mastiffs. Makao strikes a deal with him to train a dog for war.

The pathfinders enter to the sea cave and down the passage that leads beneath the lighthouse. As they slowy move into the hewn stone cavern they ecounter their first danger a pale humanoid creature with elongated arms and a lower jaw that spits into mandibles. In haste Makao unleashes a burst of positive energy in hopes the monster is among the undead. Uneffected the creature continues to thrash but a few well placed arrows by Taniv and a ray of frost by Caladrel make the creature go still.

The dug cavern turns to smooth stone and doors of anceint times. The corridors become narrow and at one point Caladrel, the lightbearer, darts into a open room to examine a red marble statue leaving the rest of the party in the darkness.

They soon find themselves in a angular room with large double door ahead of them and large black obsidian alter dominating the rest of the rooms features. As they stand before the alter they notice a one inch concave to it’s top surface, the cavity filled with forboding water. Caladrel’s curiousity gets the better of him as he ventures a taste. His eyes dialate, his jaw drops, he starts to drool as vacant expression passes over him. In no more then three seconds they hear him scream out “AHHHHHH!!!!!” and then silence. From then on his speech and mannerisms are of a more simple nature, but otherwise he is okay.

They enter the double doors into large room with two pools. One large pool bearer ring of polished skulls on long spikes forming a center midsection, and a smaller second trianglar shaped pool with churning orange liquid lays up on pulpit in the back of the room accessible by two stone stairway. As they enter a Quasit flies from the back of the room and perches on the edge of the pulpit. “Daring to intrude upon the Mother’s sanctum,” the demon shrieks as it moves to attack the party.

The battle with the quasit is hard won. The parties misfortune begans with the quasit shattering Makoa’s falcion. Taniv and Caladrel concern themselves with a pale creature that has joined the fight on the demons side. Silver begans an inspiring song as Makoa switches to his only weapon, a dart, to face off against the pale creature now blocking the stairs to pulpit. The quasit vanishes beneath a shroud of invisibilty while a combined effort of the party take down the pale creature. The quasit forces Taniv from the room with fear while an enlarged Makoa tries to swat the creature from the air with Caladrel and Silver ping it with spells. Unable to for either side to gain the upper hand the Makoa turns to grappling with the tiny creature. Try as the tiny creature might the enlarge Makoa and quick knot tieing by Silver entangle the creature and finish it off.

Poisoned heavily by the deomon Makoa collaspes unable to move. Caladrel and Silver test the orange pool by dipping in the quasit only to dicover it creates a pale creauture, which they slay with spell and sword while Makoa looks on with worry from his paralyzed state.

To wounded to continue the party surfaces to Sandpoint to recover.

Night at the Glassworks

Arodus 10th, 4708 (Wealday)

- Aegon awoke early this day to see sheriff hemlock and four town militia riding swiftly out of town. Shorty after a halfling servant of the The Rusty Dragon named Bethana Corwin desperately pleaded her story of the disappearance of her mistress Ameiko Kaijitsu. A note from Ameiko’s brother Tsuto tells of secret liason at the families glassworks at midnight last night. Feeling it would be prudent to investigate before rushing in the pathfinders try to gather more information and prepare for coming danger. But search of the premeater of glassworks seems unfruitful, so they make plans to return that evening.

- Aegon and Vladis head to the Goblin Squash Stables to peruse horses. It doesn’t take long for the pathfinders to glimpes the owners hatred for goblins. Deverin Hosk sports a large collection of mortified ears pinned to the rafters of stables.

Ear Collection Hosk offers to 1gp per goblin brought to him.

Legend of Shadowmist Hosk tells of the most magnifacient warhorse he has ever seen. He would have payed a kings bounty for the animal but traders who owned the animal were reluctant to sell. Hosk says they are traveling through Sandpoint farmland in search of suitable mare for Shadowmist

Caladrel and Taniv visit the The Feathered Serpent a local dealer of magical goods but find the store owner Vorvashali Voon lacking in stock. He is able to direct them to house of anicent books The House of Blue Stones and to the house of aged Varisian historian named Madame Mvashtis.

Makoa went to speak with Sandpoint’s resident Sage Brodert Quink. The odd man seemed more interested in the town’s ruined lighthouse then the questions about Kaijitsu family tree. But the old sage did say Ameiko had a half-elf brother named Tsuto.

After the sunny had set the pathfinders made their way to the glassworks for futher investigation. As before the windows and doors are shut up tight, so after Vladis breaks off a shutter (after three attempts at the door) and after Aegon breaks his leg (after three attempts to climb the roof) the pathfinders make it inside.

They find the glassworks in disarray and after few pitched battles they confront a large group of goblins in the furnace room. They manage to keep one alive as their search leads them into the basement.

To their shock they find Tsuto, Ameiko’s half-brother controlling the goblins. A well placed magic ray by Caladrel sends Tsuto aflight and uncaptured but they do manage rescue Ameiko.

It seems the adventure doesn’t end here for sea cave has more then just a secret entrance to the glassworks but a resently unsealed tunnel running straight under the lighthouse.

Enter Pathfinders

Arodus 7th, 4708 (Sunday)

The pathfinders arrive in Sandpoint after many days of travel to find the Swallowtail Festival has began. After much food, drink and socializing the priest Abstalar Zantus quiets the crowd for a closing pray with the bang of a thunder stone. This was also the moment the goblins attacked!

A large group of goblins have infiltrated Sandpoint and began reeking havoc during the festival. With their crude weapons and lit torches they began killing and burning all in their path. They might have suceeded if it wasn’t for the pathfinders in the crowd.

The pathfinders fight off several waves of goblins in till they head to the northgate to fight a mounted goblin on some sort of dog creature. This also resulted in the rescue of the young noble Aldern Foxglove. He thanked the pathfinders for their bravery and promised to reward them.

Arodus 8th, 4708 (Moonday)

After the goblin raid on Sandpoint the pathfinders find their deeds have spread like wildfire through the community of Sandpoint. Strangers seem to recognize them on the streets and in taverns offering them free food and drink along with thanks of appreciation.

- Aegon, Taniv, and Vladis seem to be sweeped up with the attention and spend the day enjoying the hospitality of Sandpoint’s citizens.

- Caladrel when looking for the towns history and finds the book shop The Curious Goblin he was able to secure a map of the hinterlands (can be found in maps). He also finds the history on the founding of the town of Sandpoint Sandpoint History and resent time dubbed The Late Unpleasantness.

- Makoa befriends Abstalar Zantus Sandpoint’s high priest of Desna. He helps aid the church in the healing of the wounded from the goblin raid on Sandpoint.

Arodus 9th, 4708 (Toilday)

The party spends most of the morning with Aldern Foxglove on a boarhunt, a reward for saving is life. Most of the hunt Aldern doddes over Aegon finding his fighting style both skilled and mysterious.

Later that day

- Vladis finds himself ensnared by the womanly wiles of Shayliss Vinder the daughter of Vin Vinder owner of Sandpoint General Store. Their romantic encounter is interupted by Vin where Vladis intimadates the Vinder’s into serving him some tea.

- Taniv is stopped in the streets by a desperate Amele Barrett claiming that goblin is her sons room. With some reluctance to risk his life carelessly Taniv enters the upper room of the Barrett residence to confront and slay a goblin leftover of the Sandpoint Goblin Raid. Even after Amele finds here husband has been slain by the goblin she is overjoyed that her son is safe and tries to reward Taniv, who graciously refuses.

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
